Naccowlah Block (Beach/Delhi 38.5%) |
|
The Beach Group holds a 38.5% interest in the Naccowlah Block in southwestern Queensland, about 1,000 km west of Brisbane. Jackson-1 was drilled in 1981 and was the discovery well for the Jackson Field, the second largest onshore field in Australia. Following the Jackson discovery a further 18 commercial fields were discovered in the Naccowlah Block. Cumulative oil production from the block is more than 70 million barrels. Current production from the Naccowlah Block is approximately 2,000 bopd (gross) from about 70 wells. A large 3-D seismic survey was acquired in 2005 over productive portions of the permit to identify smaller oil accumulations adjacent to the producing fields. It is expected that near-field exploration and appraisal drilling will commence in late 2006 on a number of identified fields and prospects.
