PEL 107 lies on the south-western flank of the South Australian Cooper Basin, immediately to the southeast of PEL 92. The tenement surrounds, but excludes, the Cooper Basin JV's Lake Hope area oil fields (Delhi 20.21%), which have to date produced in excess of 20 million barrels of oil.
Moana-1 (2003), Goolwa-1 (2004) and Tyringa-1 (2005) were plugged and abandoned. Kiana-1 (2005) flowed oil from the Patchawarra Formation at 1100 bopd, and continues to produce at around 50 bopd. An appraisal well on the second culmination at Kiana was unsuccessful suggesting that oil is limited to the northern culmination.
Four exploration wells were drilled in 2006/early 2007; Appadare-1 in the western portion of the permit, Talia-1 as a test of the Hutton oil play adjacent to the Lake Hope oilfields, Keeley-1 as a deeper gas test and Cabbots-1 as a high-risk pinch-out play. All failed to encounter hydrocarbons and were plugged and abandoned. The exploration focus has now been concentrated to the east of PEL 107, on the Kiana-Spencer-Muteroo high trend, with a 164km2 3D seismic survey acquired in early 2007.
