PEL 90 - Candra Block (Beach 25%)

PEL 90 is located within the north-eastern Patchawarra Trough in the Cooper/Eromanga Basin of north-eastern South Australia. The Candra Block lies in the south-eastern corner of PEL 90 and covers a portion of the 'Candra Dome', a prominent structural high that is primarily prospective for oil discoveries within the Eromanga and uppermost Cooper Basin sections.

The Acrasia Oil Field was discovered by the Candra Block Joint Venture in 2002 and commenced production later that year. It currently still produces oil from the Hutton in Acrasia-1. Reg Sprigg West-1 was drilled in 2004 (Beach 6.25%) and also discovered oil (and some gas) in several intervals; it now produces oil via a tieback to the Acrasia facility. Galilee-1 (drilled in 2004) and Baystone-1 (drilled in 2005), were dry holes.

The Candra JV extended its 3D seismic coverage in 2005, and is currently interpreting the new data to firm up drilling candidates.
